Day 6

DONE, DONE, AND, DONE!

Well I finished up today. After that long haul I pulled on Day 5 I really didn't have that much work left to do. I simply dragged the guy outside and spray painted him a little. I also rigged up some lights and added some red "goo" I found to give that nice red effect. I came a long way, from humble origins in painting walls and twisting wire to a fully-fleshed out apparition! Anyways, the end product is a Ghost of Starman coming through a wall. It lights up, I made it all by hand, and it took a while and was cool. I'm tired, I'll find pics from day 5 tomorrow and post them and upload some more stuff. And probably do some big reflexive post on the whole thing and go over what I did. Thank you for reading my blog and have a Happy Halloween :D

Check out the Slideshow one last time to see it from beginning to end, with part of the middle missing. I'll find it I swear.

Day ?

The The The
inbetween inbetween inbetween
times. times. times.
When I'm not in the "workshop" (my basement), I like to think. I think about everything. I plan my next move and the move after that. I mentally build my project usually weeks, if not months, ahead of time. This allows me to put it all together in relative ease and comfort. I truly enjoy building this "projects". They are a great creative output for my pent up Artistic Rage! I spend probably 3 months planning each "project". I spend even more time thinking about it!
All I can say is that each of these things I do has never been done before, at least not on a scale like this. These are LIFE-SIZE, and sometimes even bigger! Sure, I've only done 1.5 "projects" but I'm making a promise here and now that I will do more, and each one will be bigger and better than the last. More detail, more time, more effort, more EarthBound. Maybe Nintendo will be like, "Hey, freakin' kidz is buildin' UrfBowndz in his yard every year, maybe we should release the game." Course that is a horrible delusion on my part but, oh well. Others make pictures, other photoshop things, others make cutesy models. I just build. I make it bigger and better than anyone else.
I wish others would build EarthBound things, it is a bit of a lonely trade. Seriously these are the things that get front page'd on Kotaku or even digg! These are the things that get out there. These are the things people look at and it makes them want to go out and play the game.
I build because of EarthBound.
P.S. I'LL BE IN THE WORKSHOP NEXT WEEKEND EXPECT PIX.

Day 4

BREAK TIME! After this post, there will be a two day lull in my activity. The reason: COLLEGE!

I went through 4 rolls of tape today and many more black plastic bags to make the "skin" of the figure. Fun stuff except it took a while... a long while to do. Nevertheless there is still progress in work and it is quite noticeable. After applying and affixing the "skin" I had to spray paint it all black. I went through two cans and a brutal verbal beating by my father. I eventually told him that "it builds character", then he got all teary eyed and wandered off into the woods around my house. I love my family.

FUN FACT: I used last year's entry as a drop cloth for the painting of this year's entry! What a waste :D

Day 3

WORK IS POINTY AND MADE OF METAL.

Day 3 has come and gone. Work continues and is still going strong and relatively fun! Black Paper (my bro) has been sitting around watching the Travel Channel so I did a lot of things on my own today. Weaving together the chicken wire is hard and tedious work. It also lends itself to many, many pokes and prods from the wires as I have to go in and wrap each wire around another with just my bare hand. We finished the figure today and it stands about 6 and a half feet tall and looks good. Most of the details are still missing but this is a major step in progress and this should be done ahead of schedule if you ask me!

REMEMBER TO CHECK OUT THE IMAGE GALLERY FOR ALL THE PICS!

Day 2

IS IT HAPPENING?
Yeah, it is.

So this is day 2 and work is still going strong. I finished painting my big board of ply wood white and I started putting together the figure. I bought the rest of the supplies I will need to finish this today so I think progress will be good. This is pretty easy work and it might even get easier but I hope I finish. I really should though.

I recruited my brother, Black Paper, to help out and he seems to be having a good time. He's the blonde one, I'm the brown one. We make a good team and he really seems to be having a good time. His helping is an immense blessing for the project! Expect more tomorrow! Until then!

Also, here's the slide show of my project. I update it photos every time I get new ones so check it out often as I will update them until the project is finished!

Day 1

IT BEGINS!

Hi ya'll, I'm Stevesesy from Starmen.net. I you may have seen me or my avatar lurking around the forums before. Every year I try and do something crazy and wild for my entry in the FunFest. Last year I made a life-size Boogey Tent. This year is going to be even better, what exactly it is however is a a secret until the end! I can tell you that it does have to do with Earthbound, Halloween, and that it is under the Handart category! I will post what I'm doing, what I'm up to, and pics of it in construction. See if you can guess what it is! Expect pics later tonight of what I've done so far!

But for now you should look at my entry for last year! It won 1st in the Arms Dealer category of Handart! It is worth a look.
